Pleasant Valley Lutheran Church-Rick McFarland Memorial Scholarship
A $500 scholarship will be given to a member of Pleasant Valley Lutheran Church who is pursuing further education at a two or four year accredited college, university, or technical school. The student may be a graduating senior or previously enrolled in an accredited college, university, or technical school.
To qualify, the student must be a member of Pleasant Valley Lutheran Church. Preferably, the student will be pursuing a degree in some form of Agricultural Education or related field or have had some knowledge, background, involvement or exposure to an area or aspect of agriculture.
The student must also show evidence of past academic success and display a desire to allow their faith in God to lead them.
Student(s) who qualify will be given the scholarship at the start of the next upcoming term. Funds may be used for any expenses directly related to the educational program; tuition, books and materials, housing or transportation. The scholarship may be renewable one time for the upcoming semester upon documentation of successful completion of the previous semester, provided the student has not completed their program and is enrolled full time for the next term. Any student who withdraws from school prior to completion of the term, will be required to repay the full amount of the scholarship.
Students will submit a completed application no later than August 1st to qualify for the upcoming term and December 1st for the spring term. Completed applications as well as applications to renew the scholarship, will be reviewed and approved by representatives of the McFarland family and approved by the Pleasant Valley Church Council.
